Will my panic attacks stop if I quit drinking?
I have been abusing alcohol because I have panic disorder, PTSD, and anxiey disorder all diagnosed by a doctor and alcohol is all that works to calm me down. However, I realize the panic is way worse after I quit drinking and I wake up with my heart rate over 200 for no reason.
Has anyone quit and had their panic stop? I think alcohol is increasing the attacks. Thanks.

They will increase at first when you quit. Over time they would decrease. Keep in mind that alcohol is not the ideal drug to deal with panic and anxiety. Doctor prescribed drugs are much healthier and don’t cause hangovers and should be more effective. I take Klonipin (same as Xanax basically) and it works great as a replacement for alchohol, but is also addictive. Some others are not addictive but may or may not work, so it may require some expirementation.
After quitting alcohol I realized how it really wasn’t the answer. It calms you down, but is full of toxins that make you feel worse and cause sickness and hangover. Also your life becomes less stressful when you are sober. Alcohol is just adding to the PTSD symptoms with regular use. Sober and healthy feels good physically and mentally, but the recovery process takes time and patience. Believe it.
